“Land of Plenty” is lush and expansive. The song tackles the complex, critical issue of refugees and asylum seekers, and the reluctance of western countries to come to their aid. Haunting yet hopeful, Emily ends the song with an open question to “us” as westerners - Will we welcome those in need with open arms?
Rich vocal tapestries and sophisticated instrumentation are expertly punctuated by moments of vulnerability, letting the lyrics shine through and hit their mark unapologetically.
